The 88th edition of the Geneva Motor Show promises to be full of novelties, despite the absence of manufacturers such as DS or Opel that gives new life to its GSi brand. And year pair requires, 2018 will be particularly dense, because after the shows in Geneva and Brussels will be held in October the Paris Motor Show, renamed Mondial Paris Motor Show. But Geneva marks the start of the festivities. What will be the trend? The French in force
In Geneva, French manufacturers play almost at home. Despite the lack of DS that would have done well with its premium SUV DS7 Crossback, Peugeot, Citroen, Renault and even Alpine are present.

Peugeot 508, a premium sedan to the German assault
Once again, the references to beat are the high-end German sedans. After 7 years of loyal service, the Peugeot 508 gives way to a new version, for which the manufacturer has left a blank page. The result ? A 5-door coupe sporty line, with a tailgate. Moreover, this new 508 is shorter and lower than its predecessor, but also wider, hence the impression that the car is as if picked up on itself. The exterior looks promising, and the interior is in keeping.

We note the adoption of the famous "i-cockpit", the brand's signature. We find the famous little dual-flat flywheel, a head-up dashboard and a touch screen of 8 to 10 inches depending on the model; it is neither more nor less than the already tested instrumentation of the Peugeot 3008 and 5008. Best of all, this Peugeot 508 includes eleven driving aids, including the night vision already seen on the DS7 Crossback, and the controlled suspension of the latter. For the moment the engines are thermal combustion, but a rechargeable hybrid version should arrive in 2019.

Peugeot Rifter 4×4 Concept: the adventure at the end of the street
At Peugeot breathes the spirit of adventure! After the concept of the Citroën SpaceTourer Rip Curl, here is the Rifter 4×4 Concept brand lion. Based on the Rifter, a replacement for the small Partner utility, this Rifter 4×4 Concept is designed for fighters and other campers.

It has an all-wheel drive signed by the trainer Dangel. This mode is activated from a wheel with three driving modes: four or two drive wheels and a Lock position used to lock the rear axle. For the getaway side, the Rifter features a Roof Tent manufactured by Autohome and, at the rear, a Peugeot ATV, the eM02 FS Powertube electric assist with battery integrated into the frame. Too bad that this Rifter 4×4 Concept remains a figure of speech!

Citroën C4 Cactus: goodbye airbumps, but the spice is still there
In its first version, the Citroën C4 Cactus was a sensation with its side protections called "airbumps", very useful against knocking doors and other supermarket shopping carts. But for this new C4 Cactus, Citroën has favored softened lines.

Farewell so the imposing airbumps, which have undergone a slimming cure and have been moved to the bottom of the body, as on the C3 Aircross. As for the roof bars, they have been permanently removed. The main evolution on this C4 Cactus comes from its shock absorbers double hydraulic stop, whose springs are less hard than conventional dampers. This provides a generous travel, able to filter all the irregularities of the road, even the "big" speed bumps on the ground. Your vertebrae will thank you.

Alpine A110: the legend continues with two collections
A year ago, just at the same show in Geneva, Alpine was back with a definitive model: the A110. After a first series limited to 1 955 copies (a nod to the date of creation of the brand), here is finally the time for real production. The Alpine A110 will be offered in two versions, "Pure" and "Legend", which will be revealed during the Geneva Motor Show. The Pure version is considered an "entry level" with 17-inch bucket seats and standard wheels. For driving aids such as front and rear park cameras with reversing camera, just like the audio system signed Focal, it will be necessary to put the hand in the pocket.

As for the Legend, high-end version, everything is included with "comfortable" bucket seats and 18-inch wheels. Colors range from "Alpine" blue to "Solar" white to "Deep" black. , the gray "Tonnerre", the white "Irisé" and the white "Glacier".

Renault Zoe 110: engine under steroids
As we mentioned, Renault will officially present in Geneva its electric city car, the Zoe 110, equipped with the new engine R110.

Offering a power of 80 kW (108 hp), it allows the Zoe 110 to be a little faster on the 0 to 100 km / h (11.4 s, against 13,20 s for the R90). On the other hand, the capacity of the battery is always of 41 kWh and the load, blocked with 22 kW. Other new features on this Zoe: compatibility with Android Auto and a dark purple metallic color "Violet Blueberry" the most beautiful effect.

Lexus UX: a compact and hybrid SUV
Toyota luxury brand, Lexus benefits from Geneva to unveil the UX, a compact SUV based on the same platform as the Toyota C-HR. It will be the entry into the Lexus lineup that already has the NX and RX. Here we find the futuristic design of the brand. Side motorization, we know very little, except that the UX will necessarily hybrid; the battery should be more powerful, while the gasoline engine should also increase its capacity from 1.8 to 2 l. As for the cabin, it is assumed that it will surely be the same as that of the NX 300h. Answer on the show.

Hyundai Kona: a welcome electric variation
Hyundai does not stop talking about him. After the Nexo, fuel cell SUV, here is the Kona in electric version. This "small" SUV comes to rub against a stiff competition: Renault Captur, Peugeot 2008, Seat Arona, Opel Crossland X and other Citroën C3 Aircross, but it should pull out of the game thanks to an electric version.

Or more precisely two electric versions. The first of 99 kW (135 hp) incorporates a lithium-ion polymer battery of 39.2 kWh for a range of 300 km (WLTP standards). The 0 to 100 km / h would be shot down in 9.3 s. The second of 150 kW (204 hp), with the battery of 64 kWh, would offer a range of nearly 470 km and 0 to 100 km / h would be shot in 7.6 s. For both models, the speed limit is 167 km / h. As for the AC recharge (up to 7.2 kW), it takes 6 hours 10 to charge the battery of 39.2 kWh, and 9 hours 40 for the 64 kWh version. But the latter is able to cash a charge of 100 kW, in order to recharge 80% of the battery in 54 minutes. Although electric, the Kona is well equipped in driving aids: keeping in the queue, automatic shutdown. Emergency, Adaptive Cruise Control and Blind Spot Monitoring (BLIS). It will be compatible CarPlay and Android Auto and will also offer induction phone charging. The Hyundai Kona Electric should be available by the end of the year, but at what price?

Volvo V60: the sports wagon that knows how to stay family
The road does not belong only to SUV and other monospaces: the break is still relevant, at least at Volvo which will bring in its luggage the V60.

(Volvo Cars photo credits)

Resolutely sporty but still family, this V60 offers generous dimensions: 4.76 x 1.85 x 1.42 m, and a trunk of a capacity of 529 liters can be increased to 1,364 liters. The cockpit resumes that of the XC60, with its touch screen laser panel. Champion of safety, Volvo has not skimped and offers the famous environment "City Safety", able to prevent all kinds of collision, in a new updated version with an alert when a vehicle comes from the front!

The engine will initially be powered by petrol and diesel engines, but two plug-in hybrid versions (T6 and T8 Twin Engine) are expected to appear in 2019.

Audi A6: high-tech and 48 V hybridization
After the very high-tech A8, Audi is reviewing its A6 model. For this fifth generation, the manufacturer chooses a more aggressive design, without the dimensions change. The focus was on high-tech interior equipment: no less than two touch screens (8.6 to 10.1 inches) and a 12.3-inch dashboard handling no less than 400 parameters! This A6 can be configured by 7 different drivers. It offers around 38 driving aids, including the possibility of level 3 autonomous driving. Like the A8, the A6 can park and start on its own using an Android smartphone with dedicated application.

Like the A8, the A6 will be equipped with a slight hybridization at 48 V for V6: an alternator-starter coupled to a battery of 12 kW allows a cut of the engine when the vehicle rolls between 55 and 160 km / h . This should ensure a fuel economy of 0.7 l / 100 km. Of course, this is not the complete list of new vehicles to be presented in Geneva, but only those that the manufacturers have been willing to reveal. Other surprises are to be expected, including the concept car Renault Ez-Go which certainly foreshadows an autonomous car. Toyota should also be partying with a new Auris and two concept cars, one electric and the other hydrogen. We will be on hand to discover with you these novelties.
