TF1 "scandalized" by the stop of the diffusion of its chains by Canal +

TF1 says it is "scandalized by the unilateral decision of the Canal + Group" to stop broadcasting its free channels. In a statement, TF1 regrets a hostage take by Canal of its own customers and ensures not to have demanded the suspension of its channels. On the contrary, the TF1 group has proposed to its competitor a continuation of negotiations, while he still refuses to pay 20 million euros. TF1 reacted in a statement to stop the broadcast of its free channels and related services as the replay MyTF1 by Canal +. "The TF1 Group is scandalized by the unilateral decision of the Canal + Group to deprive its subscribers of the TF1, TMC, TFX, TF1 Series, LCI and MyTF1 channels," the media group said.
TF1 channels and replay are no longer available by Canal +
TF1 deplores a hijacking of Canal + customers, who "pay to receive TF1 channels […] as part of their subscription". TF1, which will inevitably lose audience following this decision, asks the Canal + group "to take into account the legitimate interest of its subscribers CANAL and TNT SAT". It also reminds that in the meantime, its channels are accessible via TNT, mytf1.fr and other distributors. Canal + has stopped broadcasting the TF1 group channels on Thursday, March 1, 2018 evening. It refuses to pay the 20 million euros claimed by TF1 for the distribution of its free channels to its subscribers and for an enriched offer containing replay and other features. In its press release, TF1 said it had "never asked that its channels and service replay be cut, but instead proposed a continuation of negotiations."
Canal + had already sued TF1 in court before the Commercial Court of Paris to close this case. SFR and Bouygues Telecom have accepted the conditions of TF1, but the tussle is still engaged with Orange and Free. Orange has canceled its advertising campaigns on TF1 channels and has already prepared to stop their broadcast on Livebox.
