TF1 will be cut on the Freebox from March 31, 2018

On March 31, 2018, TF1 channels will be cut on all Freebox. As our colleagues at BFM reveal, the current broadcasting contract linking Free to TF1 is coming to an end. If the operator does not accept the requirements of the private channel by then, TF1 is determined to carry out its threats. On March 31, 2018, MyTF1 may well disappear from all FreeBox. If no agreement is reached between Free and TF1 by the end of the broadcast contract, the free channels of TF1 will also be cut for all Freebox subscribers. The strategy adopted by TF1 is the same as in the conflict with Orange or SFR. For the time being, only SFR and Bouygues Télécom, which belongs to the same group as TF1, have managed to reach an agreement with the channel.
Freebox: the broadcasting contract between Free and TF1 will end on March 31, 2018
It is unlikely that the negotiations between Xavier Niel's operator and TF1 will end by then. The private channel claims indeed up to 20 million euros per year to Free to allow it to enjoy the services of TF1, which includes free channels. Maxime Lombardini, the CEO of Free, said he was very pessimistic about the turn of the negotiations. TF1's demands are extravagant! Discussions are at a standstill, "he said in early February. If the private channel was finally to cut access, a tip will nevertheless allow Freebox subscribers to watch TF1. At the beginning of February, TF1 cut the replay subscribers of a Livebox Orange. The private channel also threatens the incumbent operator to cut subscribers' access to its free channels, if it does not agree to revise up their broadcasting contract. The latest news, TF1 claims up to 25 million euros per year to Orange. Even from Canal +, which has decided to sue TF1 in court before the Commercial Court.
